As chickens reach a certain age, they no longer produce eggs at a rate that is considered profitable for egg-farmers. On our chicken farm, we currently have 1000 laying-hens and we need to reduce our flock down by about 250 hens this month. These birds are no longer in their peak production phase and therefore they are no longer useful in our flock. But they are still healthy and productive birds that could be a blessing for a family this holiday season! We are offering our supporters the opportunity to buy a chicken for a Nicaraguan family this Christmas. At just $4 a piece, a purchase of $40 would bless 10 families with eggs and meat to put on the table this Christmas season.
*This farm currently serves 180 children a day in Masatepe by allowing them to eat one egg each day of the week, made possible by donations from our supporters!
